Beach City sits on a broad peninsula that is bordered on the east by Trinity Bay and on the west by the San Jacinto River. The revolution that made Texas a republic and then later one of the United States began at Anahuac (about eight miles east of Beach City) and ended at San Jacinto (about ten miles west of Beach City). By the early twentieth century, the relatively temperate bay breezes and good views, and fishing began to lure people from nearby towns to the Beach City area. With the booming economy after World War II, people had time and money for recreation. People from Baytown especially began to build small summer/weekend houses or "fishing camps" along the shoreline of present Beach City. A number who came for recreation decided to stay. By the early 1960s, the community had about 500 permanent residents. The incorporation of Beach City was finalized on April 11, 1966. (Source: Beach City website)
