Clinton Park was developed after World War IIÂ due to the area's close proximity to the Port of Houston.[2] When Clinton Park was originally developed, it was marketed to middle-class families.[3]Â Today, this area includes a part of the Port of Houston and has large holding ponds containing materials dredged from the Houston Ship Channel. These high earthen dikes surrounding the ponds are distinctive forms on this flat coastal plain. The wetlands created by these dikes create open space.
